Highly focused on the needs of their 21st-century employees MedImmune decided it was time to renovate a pre-existing café at their Gaithersburg, MD headquarters. Beyond just refreshing the interiors they also wanted to add options for restricted diets, expand upon healthy choices offered, alleviate long lines and place a heavy emphasis on freshly prepared and interactive display cooking. In collaboration with SmithGroupJJR, Ricca worked diligently to meet the client’s goals and worked within a phased process so that the café remained open to hungry employees during construction.
The bright and new space focuses on local and freshly prepared ingredients at the 7+ venues including, gourmet sandwiches and wraps, hand-crafted salads, gluten free/reduced entrees, a tea and juice bar and a made-to-order grill. Implementing modern amenities such as the self-order kiosks has allowed for speedier service and reduced lines, while rearranging and relocating some of the prominent stations has created more efficient flow and functionality.
