For the first time in 20 years, Duke’s historic East Campus Union was due to receive a revamp—and expanding the servery topped the list of changes. Pulling inspiration from the ever-popular food hall concept, the East Union was designed and with multiple food outlets such as The Pacific Rim with a variety of steamed buns and dumplings, a dual-sided hot-and-cold salad station, and a mouthwatering rotisserie platform. All of the areas, along with the prominent herb wall, promote healthy choices with fresh, made-to-order meals.

In the basement, the Trinity Café was relocated to more effectively provide grab-n-go options, additional seating and even a stage for campus performances. Offering various dining options with a commitment to healthy foods, Duke’s East Union now is in alignment with the other modern dining locations on campus contributing to their acclaimed collegiate campus food program.
