The University of Washington (UW) Medicine Behavioral Health Teaching Facility (BHTF) project, located in Seattle, WA, represents a significant development in healthcare infrastructure. This new construction project, completed in 2023, involved a comprehensive foodservice design tailored to the needs of the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC). Spanning 184,000 gross square feet across six stories, the facility aims to serve and humanize its population by addressing critical considerations such as the ongoing impact of COVID-19. Key foodservice objectives included expansion of the kitchen to better serve the campus, the introduction of mobile ordering, the removal of traditional salad bars, and the transition to a room service model to enhance patient care and safety.
