As Principal, Garret is heavily involved in planning, concept and schematic design, and oversees the design process through construction. He creates and drives the project vision, adheres to programming, and provides strategic planning. Garret is the leader of the culinary design team, and is ultimately responsible for upholding the client’s design intent for the duration of the project life-cycle.

BACKGROUND

Garret has always had a passion for design, and it didn’t stop when he started working at Ricca. Garret received his undergraduate degree at University of Minnesota Twin Cities where he got his Bachelor of Science  in Architecture. Then he continued his education and got his Master’s Degree in Architecture with a Certificate in Healthcare Design from University of Kansas. After graduating, he worked for many years in Minneapolis and Denver designing healthcare projects around the US. After a few years in the healthcare industry, he transitioned to a BIM consulting firm, after discovering he was very skilled at the coordination efforts that BIM managing and consulting needed in the construction industry. Then when an opportunity came to use all the skills in both design and coordinating projects at Ricca, he took this opportunity to combine both passions of design and BIM, and make a career of it at Ricca Design Studios. Garret joined Ricca in 2017 as a Project Manager; he was then a Director for two years, and is now a Principal. Garret brings all the skills from his previous positions in project management and studio director to all new projects. His experience ranges from initial design sketches early in a project to feasibility studies to drafting and Revit. Additionally, he utilizes VR and 3D modeling to illustrate designs to the client and design team. Garret’s skills also include equipment selection, delivering projects on time and budget, and implementing the design in the field during construction. Garret brings experience with full project scope to every project, to provide great customer service and a beautifully designed project to clients.
